The Santozeum aims to create a dynamic environment for young and emerging artists, providing a residency program in the arts, while connecting a global network of pioneers and professionals to Santorini. The Museum is currently hosting the Thera Foundation’s collection of Kodak Pathé Akrotiri Wall Painting Reproductions. The New Blood Greek Cinema series is a creation of the Santozeum’s 2012 Manifesto for Manifestos in Crisis. Ileana Drinovan, Artistic Director and Founder of the Santozeum: “The Santozeum calls on artists to locate points of crisis for the participating entities and to track strategies of production in response to the circumstances of their mission.
Current trends in political indecision, years with more or less arts funding, transitions away from print into digital text, sacrificing the gritty for gloss, losing creative security in the society that surrounds us but gaining clarity in artistic credos are some thrusts that may have provided impetus for creative resistance or action.” New Blood Greek Cinema showcases the work of twelve cutting edge Greek directors over the course of the 2012 summer season. Ten films have been selected, all produced between 2011 and 2012. There are six documentaries and four dramas.
